Neurosurgeon / Spine Surgery
Patient education is a critical component of his approach to medicine because informed families make steadier decisions. He invests the time to translate complex imaging and operative details into plain language that lowers fear and anxiety.
Dr. Gullick believes that when patients grasp both risks and opportunities, they partner more confidently in their care, paving the way for smoother recoveries and calmer, more collaborative surgical journeys.
About Richard Gullick
Richard Gullick, MD, was born in Memphis, Tennessee and spent his childhood on military bases across the United States and Germany. He earned his medical degree from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland and completed neurosurgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Following residency, Dr. Gullick served as an Army neurosurgeon in Hawaii, Texas, and Iraq before relocating his family to Atlanta in 2008. Those experiences shaped his commitment to disciplined surgical planning and compassionate care for patients facing life-changing conditions. He now focuses on minimally invasive cranial and spinal surgery, complex spine reconstruction, and spinal cord injury management, pairing advanced technique with thorough patient education to reduce fear and improve recovery. He believes that when people fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options, they heal with more confidence. Away from clinic he enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and tinkering on his hobby farm—often alongside friends, family, and one supremely indifferent Akita.
