About Marcus Stephens
Dr. Marcus L. Stephens II is an Albany, Georgia native who earned his biology degree from Hampton University before graduating from Meharry Medical College. He completed neurosurgery residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he refined complex skull base techniques under department chair JD Day and logged countless hours in the Yasargil Microneurosurgery Laboratory. Following his chief resident year, he pursued a fellowship in open cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgery with former Congress of Neurological Surgeons president Nicholas Bambakidis at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Stephens has authored peer-reviewed manuscripts and maintains focused interest in cranial base tumors such as meningiomas, pituitary adenomas, and vestibular schwannomas as well as functional disorders including trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm. His practice also spans aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistulas, gliomas, brain metastases, traumatic brain injuries, and modern minimally invasive spine procedures. He is committed to educating patients and families so their treatment plans feel personal, collaborative, and rooted in the philosophy, 'I believe in treating people, not images.'
