Jerry Walters II MD
Neurosurgeon / Spine Surgery
I am committed to utilizing the most advanced surgical techniques to help patients achieve optimal outcomes with minimal recovery time, and I make sure every patient understands the why behind the plan. Sharing data and expectations builds trust before anyone steps into the OR.
My focus is on minimally invasive approaches that reduce pain, protect motion, and accelerate healing, and I collaborate closely with rehabilitation partners so recovery keeps moving even after the surgical incision has healed.
About Jerry Walters II
Dr. Jerry L. Walters II, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, studied biology at Tougaloo College before earning his medical degree from Brown University "The Warren Alpert" Medical School, where mentor Dr. Rees Cosgrove inspired his path toward neurosurgery. He completed neurosurgery residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, gaining extensive experience in both open and minimally invasive spine techniques and contributing to peer-reviewed research on spinal tumors, advanced instrumentation, and biomaterial integration. Dr. Walters partners with Legacy Brain & Spine patients in Tucker and Riverdale, emphasizing conservative therapies whenever appropriate and reserving surgery for when it restores function and relieves pain most effectively. His clinical interests span traumatic brain injury, infection, brain tumors, and complex spinal disorders. Outside of the OR he enjoys hiking, community outreach, lifelong learning, sports, and history, and he maintains active membership in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
